Event Details

Safety Office is offering a new comprehensive course in biological safety. This is designed for those who need to prepare and submit biological and GM risk assessments, and those who need to understand and/or manage biological risks. It includes some introductory material that may be helpful for those without a life science background who are working with biological risks. It is suitable for graduate students, PDRA’s, PI’s, Lab managers and technical staff responsible for labs with biological risks.

The course will take place on-line via zoom over two afternoons and cover the following topics:

Day 1

Risk, Safety Legislation and Biosafety legislation
Introduction to Biological Risks
Biological Risk Groups
Other sources of Biological Risk
Basic Risk controls 1

Day 2

Basic Risk Controls 2
Higher Level Risks and Controls
Microbiological Safety Cabinets
GM risk
Emergency procedures and accident reporting
